Irbid, known in ancient times as Arabella or Arbela, is the capital and largest city of the Irbid Governorate. Established in June , Yarmouk University YU has developed into one of the largest and most prestigious state-supported educational institutions in Jordan. With 11 centres for research and career development, YU strikes for a fair balance between the humanities on the one hand and science, engineering, and medical specialisations on the other. They hope to inspire our young students by offering a variety of specialisations combined with excellence in teaching, opportunities for community service and extra-curricular activities, and encouragement of innovation. Their aim is not merely to produce degree-holders but rather productive citizens with integrity, vision, reasoning, tolerance, and a sense of purpose. Several research projects are currently underway in partnership with local and international institutions. YU is contributing to empirical research, the collection of life histories, the stakeholder mapping and is organising a workshop and in person briefings in Jordan. YU will further contribute to the country report on Jordan WP3 based on desk research, to the synthesis of empirical findings WP7 and the creation of impact WP8. He has expertise in forced migration and has published widely on the topic of forced migration.
