Hi everyone, I've just acquired what I'm told is a Yamaha 8hp 2 stroke. The clamp bracket has been replaced so I don't have the serial number. Although it has a 8hp hood, I'm wondering if it may be a 6hp and anyway I'll need a serial number when I come to ordering parts. Does anyone know any way to tell the difference between the 6 and the 8 without the number and if the number is stamped anywhere else on the engine? It seems a little odd if the only ID is a sticker which could be replaced by an unscrupulous person.
