Shacknews is here to help. The Magnifying Lens isn't typically an item one would imagine as crucial to finish Link's Awakening. However, it's very much critical in getting through the game's final minutes. The Mabe Village library contains a special book that offers a solution to the Wind Fish Egg's labyrinth, which will lead Link into the final boss battle.

Our next primary destination is finally the giant Egg at the top of the Mountain. However, before going we must make one semi-mandatory pit-stop in Mabe Village. Make your way to the west side of the village and enter the library. Read the book that is at the bottom-right part of the library. With the correct route written down, exit the library. Our final destination is the Egg on top of the Mountain. From there, head left, defeat the moblins, lift the rocks and then head right. Finally, head up the long stairs to find the giant egg on top of the mountain. Pull out the Ocarina and play the Ballad of the Wind Fish. A lengthy cut-scene will take place, showing all eight of the instruments of the sirens, and it will conclude with the breaking of the Egg. Use the instructions you got in the Library. When you get to the end, jump down the pit and prepare to face the Nightmare!

Though not really a dungeon, there is a puzzle to solve along the way that requires some preperation in order to get the correct Wind Fish's Egg Maze solution. If you're looking for more assistance, our Zelda: Link's Awakening walkthrough can help. First, make sure you have fully completed the trading sequence , allowing you to get the Magnifying Lens. You need to take this to the Mabe Village Library, and read the mysterious book in the corner. This gives you a list of directions. Make note of them - they are different for every playthrough, so those in the below screenshot won't match yours - as you'll need them to successfully navigate the dungeon.
