In their three decades on the air, The Simpsons have always known how to start things off with a bang, and the season premiere episodes are usually some of the best of the entire show. Setting the tone for the season ahead, the premieres are what get viewers hooked, and have them coming back each week for more hilarity. Though classic episodes aren't limited to the season openers, many memorable moments and episodes kicked off seasons. While there have been dozens of seasons of The Simpsons over the years, only the best of the premieres earned high scores on IMDb. Even though many fans believe that the show went downhill after the first ten seasons or so, some of the more recent Simpsons seasons have produced great episodes. As a premier episode, the story is just zany enough to be over-the-top compared to the rest of the season. Bart and Homer's foibles as mafia bosses are pure comedy gold, and the episode shines a light on one of the darker aspects of Springfield's seedy underbelly. Though it isn't a perfect episode, it did a great job of fleshing out Fat Tony, and his mob family. Of all the episodes that were pressured to establish the tone of the show, the series premiere certainly had the highest stakes.
