Steins;Gate is a considerably more complicated affair than most other visual novels. This largely stems from its core gameplay mechanic: the "Phone Trigger" system. Rather than being presented with explicit, binary choices like in other visual novels, your interaction with Steins;Gate is entirely diegetic and performed through using Okabe's phone. The route you take through the game and the ending you get is determined by your responses to emails you receive, whether you make phone calls when given the opportunity and even whether or not you read incoming messages. This guide, which should be mostly spoiler-free, was compiled with the help of the walkthrough on IBM As such, there may be some minor differences in the text you see. If you happen to spot any glaring errors along the way, please note them in the comments and we'll correct the guide accordingly. The guide does not refer to decisions that don't have a major impact on the story or ending. If you are presented with an option not listed here, feel free to experiment -- save beforehand if you're worried! SAVE at the start of this chapter as there's a branching point with Faris' email messages.
