Vanessa: Another discovery in suburbia and again close to home is Silverfox Cafe, located in Mortdale. Bianca and I arrived on a Sunday morning and the place was already pumping with people. The cafe is deceptive in size from the front as it is actually quite long and extends to a courtyard out the back. A trendy fit out makes it an appealing location. Silverfox is a family run operation and the team have put some careful consideration into their menu as it extends beyond the average cafe fare. Valentina, one of the owners, greeted us to talk through some of their new winter menu items. Full props to the team for creativity on the names of some of the dishes, I appreciated the novelty factor. Brunch is offered all day and there is a good range of options to suit various tastes and hunger levels. This is why it pays to go outside your comfort zone as it was the dish I loved the most! A substantial bowl of chai-infused maple porridge with baked chai apples topped with coconut granola and raspberries.

Gina is always so accommodating and Bernard is an outstanding chef!!! A trendy fit out makes it an appealing location.

We headed to Mortdale to try out the new kid on the block, the Silver Fox Cafe. In a area with plenty of bakeries, charcoal chicken shops and grocery stores, Mortdale has been missing a quality cafe. This certainly fills that void. As soon as you enter this cafe, it feels fresh and the decor is on trend. Pine wooden pieces, cement floors and a touch of white, the cafe feels modern and we love the Kate Moss artwork in the back room.

Seriously, we highly recommend that you save space for dessert next time you come and visit us! We know this can be hard when you have delicious and different options to choose from for appetizers, side dishes, and main dishes—but missing out on dessert is definitely not recommended. Below we are going to highlight two of our favorite options that we have for dessert—we would not judge you if you decided to get both of them, that really is how good they are! As we have said earlier, we are much more than a steakhouse—and we will highlight this further with some delightful dessert options. You know that pecan pie you might have once a year at Thanksgiving dinner that you enjoy? Well, forget about that pie and think about our delectable Texas Pecan Cake! We start with a white cake that is filled with both shredded coconut and crushed pecans, and we do not stop there. Next we layer this treat with whipped cream frosting—and then add pecans throughout the frosting. That is right, pecans on both the inside and the outside! You really cannot go wrong with this option for dessert, promise!
