He's a pleasant, quick thinking hero-in-training like most of his classmates and relates to them in a manner that couldn't be friendlier. Oddly enough, however, no one had ever seen Mezo Shoji's face--until now. This was a boundary Shoji never dropped. Whenever he appeared, his face was hidden behind a mask. Neither in-universe characters nor fans had ever seen his face until My Hero Academia Chapter , when Shoji's mask was removed for the first time. Shoji's decision to always don a mask was reached before enrolling at UA. As a result, his choice has gone largely unquestioned by his classmates, either because they are too polite, or are apathetic because they've never known Shoji any other way. Forever obscuring his face was a deeply personal choice; he wasn't pressured into making it, but the process that led to this decision was a heartbreaking one. An unfortunate common reality of characters with heteromorphic Quirks in My Hero Academia is that they've all faced some form of societal rejection based on their appearance. Shoji was no exception, and a defining moment for him was when the sight of his true face caused a little girl to cry. Since then, Shoji has worn a mask in an effort to be more accommodating to others. His quest for acceptance may be hindering his full self-expression, but Chapter proved he still takes pride in his status as a heteromorph. As luck would have it, Shoji and the one other Heteromorph member of Class 1-A were placed on a battlefield dominated by heteromorph villains and misguided citizens alike. They were protecting Jaku Hospital -- the location where the High-End Nomu Kurogiri was being restrained -- from invasion.
Your Father, the Number One Hero. Don't have an account?
My Hero Academia has gone through almost everyone's backstory in Class 1-A by now, but Shoji was one of those odd gaps for so long. Tentacole's history was a mystery to everyone, and netizens have been eager to learn about his past since creator Kohei Horikoshi promised big things were coming for the hero. And at last, My Hero Academia has outed everything we wanted to know about Shoji As promised, the manga put forth Shoji's backstory this week in chapter after setting up the tale last week. The series felt it was time to share things as Shoji stood against Spinner and his army of wronged mutants during All For One's war. The gang is determined to take Kurogiri back even if it costs lives at a local hospital.
My Hero Academia is full of wacky, yet fantastic character designs, but the nature of its world of heroes mean that fans don't often get to see how some characters look without their famous hero outfits. But thanks to new sketches spotted in a compilation book for the series, now fans can see how U. Academy hero-in-training Shoji Mezo looks without the mask he's always seen wearing. Spotted in the Ultra Archive art book for the series, fans now see how Shoji looks maskless and as his Quirk implied, his mouth looks just like the mouths he can protrude from his limbs. Though seeing that same mouth on his face is a bit different than one would expect. Shoji's shown off his mouth before, but has always covered his face in and out of his hero costume. His Quirk is Dupli-Arms, which allows him to duplicate different parts of his body and spread them out throughout his limbs. His ability is seen as highly useful when gathering information, and it was last seen being used to transport a very injured Midoriya while they fought Tokoyami and tried to protect Bakugo in the latest episode. So although Shoji's mouth shouldn't be a surprise, it still feels like a surprise given the different ways we've seen him contort his limbs to fit the situation. The story follows Izuku Midoriya , who lives in a world where everyone has super powers but he was born without them.

Mezo Shoji is one of the nicest students in My Hero Academia , while also being one of the most misjudged in part due to his heteromorphic Quirk, Dupli-Arms. Unlike other characters, Shoji's special anatomy requires him to wear a uniform without sleeves and no coat, so that his multiple limbs have space to move around. Shoji's mask is only added to his outfit because his real appearance apparently caused a little child to burst into tears. Being the compassionate person that he is, Shoji chooses to hide himself rather than hurt anyone else. Although he's not a major character, Shoji has been involved in many key events throughout My Hero Academia. During the battle with the League of Villains in the Forest Training Camp Arc, Deku is severely injured when facing Fumikage's Dark Shadow which the latter has lost complete control of. Right before the entity can harm him anymore, Shoji manages to grab Deku and flee the scene. Later, he successfully lures Dark Shadow into defeating the villain Moonfish, following which Bakugo and Todoroki quell Fumikage's destructive Quirk , thereby saving him from himself. Shoji is rather tall and very muscular, more so than the others in his class who have no shortage of physical strength or gym bodies, themselves. In the Quirk Apprehension Test, Shoji proves he can generate over a thousand lbs of pressure, suggesting he wouldn't need to exert too much effort to shatter material as durable as bone.
