Rounding the earth

Like the other planets, the Earth is a sphere. It rotates around its own axis slowly but continuously, and completes this rotation about once every 24 hours. As the Earth rotates, part of the Earth is facing the sun, and part of it faces away. This is why some parts of the world have day and night at different times. There are a number of reasons why scientists know that the Earth is round, and not flat. It turns out that we can test many of these reasons out for ourselves, too. And a ship will slowly start to disappear from view as it gets farther away. This is because the Earth is round. Things in the distance are not visible because there is a curve to the landscape. One way to test this is to watch the sunset. Find a spot where you can see the sunset, and also have a place close by where you can safely move higher, such as a tree or building. Or even start laying down and then stand up. On the ground, the sun will eventually disappear beyond the horizon.

Why are we even having this discussion? It's crazy that there are people who not only believe the Earth is flat like a pizza but also try to prove it. It's like trying to prove you shouldn't add pineapple as a topping on your pizza which you obviously should. Maybe they just like a challenge. It's not easy to create a flat-Earth model that accommodates all the evidence against it. I mean, humanity figured this one out a long time ago. The ancient Greeks not only knew the Earth was round, they even measured its diameter.

There are plenty of ways to prove the earth is round, here are 10 that should be convincing. Ships and the Horizon. If you go down to the ocean and watch for long enough you will probably see a lot of ships appear in front of you. As if they were submerged before, and only just reached the surface. This is only possible because the world is round, and not flat. This happens because the ocean gets lower down the further away you go, as the water follows the curvature of the earth, it begins to drop. If the earth was flat the water would not drop or get lower, it would stay at the same level. The Centre of Gravity.
