Primus is the living creator-God of the Transformer race in the Aligned continuity, whose body became the planet Cybertron. Primus is the twin brother of Unicron , his eternal foe, whom he battled for eons before going into stasis. Primus also created the Thirteen , the first Primes , to defeat his evil twin brother and cast Unicron into deep space. Primus is the Father of all Cybertronians, as all their Sparks are created by Primus. Primus was created at the beginning of the very universe itself by the One.

The following contains spoilers for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts , now in theaters. Rise of the Beasts continues the rebooted Transformers timeline that began with Bumblebee. Following in the vein of that film's Generationinspired designs and depiction of the war on Cybertron, this new installment remains more faithful to classic Transformers lore than Michael Bay's previous series did. As well as introducing classic villain Unicron and drawing upon the Beast Wars era of the franchise's history, the film included the first reference to Primus in a live-action Transformers entry. Primus is only briefly mentioned by the Terrorcon leader, Scourge. He invokes the memory of Primus to taunt Optimus Prime in battle, telling the Autobot that Primus would be ashamed of him. While it's only a fleeting reference, it's sure to have caught the attention of long-time Transformers fans and intrigued newcomers to the franchise. But who is Primus, and what is his connection to Optimus Prime? An ancient being created at the dawn of time in classic iterations of the Transformers mythos, Primus has been depicted as a primal force for good and Lord of the Light Gods. His creation also resulted in the creation of his brother and opposite, Unicron, an embodiment of evil and leader of the Dark Gods. More recent versions of Primus' story have also introduced the idea that he created the first 13 Transformers, all of whom were deemed Primes, to aid in his battle against Unicron. Ultimately, Primus defeated Unicron by trapping both himself and his evil brother in the form of lifeless asteroids. However, while imprisoned, they both learned to reshape the asteroids into new bodies, and Primus became Cybertron. From the metal skin of his new body, Primus went on to create the Transformer race. He imbued each of his children with a spark formed from his own life essence.

Now, Unicron and Primus were the opposite aspects of a preexisting singular being, who split off from each other to primus transformers their own entities.

Primus is the creator-god of the Transformers. An ancient and ethereal being whose origins date back to the beginnings of the universe itself, Primus is a multiversal force for good, his life force existing across multiple realities and infinite alternate universes. In each one, he is the final defense against his fallen sibling, Unicron the Chaos-Bringer. Primus eventually transformed himself into the planet Cybertron ; from its surface, his creations have risen to defend and patrol the galaxy. Within the depths of Cybertron, the mega-computer Vector Sigma serves as his internal mainframe, and a gateway for select Transformers to access his power.

Alpha Trion recalls the moment of his creation and then that of Solus Prime and the others following him, each appearing from nothing ex nihilo in repeating explosions of lightning and tremor. Immediately after their creation they feel Primus fade away into hypersleep. He leaves them with a last vision of how he and Unicron became a divided duality from a single original being and fell into eternal conflict and battle too evenly matched to ever end. Primus sought to change that eternal stalemate by removing himself from the equation and substituting beings of much more greater variety and unique varied potential to change the future: a group of Thirteen each with creative new approaches to the problem of Unicron. These Thirteen were formed to incorporate factets of both Primus and Unicron's natures, increasing the options for new direction far beyond the equally matched duality of the original combatants. The newborn Primes quickly settle down to learn their own abilities, to train and to strategize for the coming conflict with Unicron. Many strategies were discussed and abandoned by the Thirteen. Personality conflicts simmered between some of the Thirteen between the very Primus-like Prima and strongly Unicron-influenced Megatronus particularly but their unified purpose bound them together.

The battle between Primus and Unicron is fought not only in the physical universe but also on the mental plane. Damage inflicted on the plane can be felt on the physical and can reslut in complete shutdown.
