What was known as Clayboys — a seemingly high-end, intimate piano bar — came within inches of opening pre-pandemic. But never did. Social media boards filled with questions and theories. And after a while, it became obvious the doors would never be unlocked. And once it became apparent Clayboys would never open, two new entrepreneurs were at the ready to take the turn-key bar and prepare it for a grand opening.

Adam, the bartender and owner, is both knowledgeable and personable. Read more. The Pink Elephant martini used to be amazing. Sadly, the last 3 I have had here are all very different and not tasty. We always get weird vibes from the people in this bar.

He and Adam said The Pink Elephant will zero in on select bourbons, a high-end wine selection and local beers from Crane and Boulevard, keeping the atmosphere light and lively with live entertainment, jazz trios, acoustic acts, stand-up comedy nights, trivia and even plans for 70s-style game-show events. People come from all over the place to come downtown. Visitors will find a signature Pink Elephant drink and maybe even a few cocktails named for some historic spots in downtown. The duo has paired up with Dave Eames and Ben Wine from Fossil Forge Design to bring to life the striking pink elephant signage inside the tavern.
