This truck belongs to one of my really good fleet customers. I personally have not had to do anything to this particular truck for the past miles. Just been to the lube rack for oil changes, fuel filters, and rotates. Last week they brought the truck in for an oil change, rotate, and fuel filter. When my service writer went to pull the truck out of the stall he noticed the check engine light on.

If I tow a trailer and throw it in park to unhook I will get back in and it says engine power reduced with the P I have cleaned it until it is surgically sterile so it cannot be dirty. Does anyone know what the problem is? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. Can't figure it out either mine is clean also Sent from my iPhone 4s. Thats where I'm gonna start and then go from there.
No one can find or fix the problem and he doesn't want to let the dealership "wallet slap" the issue. These numbers are at idle. A wise man once said "google it".

Ive replaced the boost pressure sensor.

Almost immediately the truck began throwing the P code and I would get reduced engine power after running above 70MPH on the freeway for about 15 miles. After adding those the code actually went away for a while but returned when I was towing about 2 weeks later. So driving around for a while in this crazy Texas weather we've been having recently I noticed a couple of things. One, after getting reduced engine power, when I would slow down to 40MPH not safe on the freeway, mind you the reduced engine power would go off until I ran another 15 miles or so at 70MPH, regardless of load. Two, I could go for miles before getting reduced engine power if it was cooler than 70 degrees out. These two things inevitably led me to believe the engine was getting more air than it liked, but the charge of the colder air was letting it fool the sensor a little while longer than if it was hot out.

A code may appear at anytime while driving. The first thing you should look for when the code appears is a clear understanding of what the code means on the Duramax engine. When it detects that the frequency signal from the MAF sensor is outside of the expected range, it stores the code. The mass air flow sensor measures how much air enters the engine. The ECM, on the other hand, is in charge of maintaining constant engine adjustment by monitoring the other control modules and detecting the frequency from various sensors. The MAF sensor, on the other hand, uses an air induction system to generate voltage. The ECM of the Duramax calculates the frequency. P on Duramax, unlike other DTC codes, must be taken seriously and corrected as soon as possible. If you ask me, why?

I checked to see if the customer had time for a quick diag and was told they were in a hurry, the owners wife brought it in and she had errands to run. If it's less, then your probably choking the engines airflow, if it's over 45 then it's to much airflow both will cause the P Reply Private Reply Share. MAF has been cleaned and verified ok. Took the air filter out and it was dirty. If your running the stock air filter the readings should be somewhere in the mid to high 25's. There is a GM published bulletin and we had run into this at the GM dealership often enough and the suggested repair there was to put the correct box back in. If I tow a trailer and throw it in park to unhook I will get back in and it says engine power reduced with the P It seems the criteria and the result of the P MAF Performance code will still put the truck into reduced power mode even though the code is disabled. Thanks for everyones help. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks Thanks for advice. I don't work on diesels but this is a good thing to archive into the mind.

Have someone check the EGR and intake air valves operation Went to move the trailer to the back of the house and got the message and in limp mode. Bought the truck used and never thought to check it and appraently the GM Certified dealer didn't either. About an hour later the wife calls the shop and says the truck barely got out of it's own way while she was pulling out in traffic. The time now is PM. I called Nick and sent him my spade. I replaced the turbo 2 weeks ago and havnt had the problem again. After I replaced the turbo boost sensor "the one on the left side buried on the intake" I did a relearn on the turbo. So what happens is the air filters get water logged and suck them selves in. Built 1 working day after my birthday and delivered 7 days later. This whole ordeal took about 2 minutes.
