Most runners will be quite pleased with the Mizuno Wave Rider 27, but we think it's not for everyone. With a In our view, better-suited options like the Hoka Clifton 9 or the Adidas Adizero SL are available, offering a lower drop and more comfortable ride for forefoot strikers. If you're planning to do a lot of speedwork, the Mizuno Wave Rider 27 might not be the shoe for you. Other shoes like the Mizuno Wave Rebellion or the Hoka Mach X , as we discovered, offer better performance for those speedy workouts, providing the necessary agility and responsiveness. When we first laid eyes on the jacquard mesh upper, it looked breathable to us. After running it through our lab's smoke test, it scored 4 out of 5—which is good, but not top-notch. Mizuno decided to go with a thin mesh for the upper, but they skipped adding any ventilation holes. You can see this in the video below thanks to our powerful light. That means air has to work its way through the entire mesh to get out, causing hot air and moisture to escape at a slower, steady pace. What we discovered confirmed our suspicions: there really are no ventilation holes, and the jacquard mesh doesn't help airflow that much. On the inside of the upper, we found no extra fabric for added comfort or protection.
Final conclusions about Mizuno Wave Rider The results were really impressive. No wonder, because this is the best version in the history of this legendary Mizuno Wave Rider.
A very respectable weight indeed as we have a max cushion grade Always focused on the details and quality, as with every Mizuno I can recall, they weigh to the gram the same left and right a rarity for sure in the industry and one should expect excellent durability. Bach: The Wave Rider series has been somewhat hot and cold for me. Mizuno has made a variety of changes over the past several iterations that surely will have played with Wave Rider loyalists and their preferences. The 26 being a bit too rigid and a net negative over the solid 25, the 27 finds a good middle ground. A spongier forefoot feeling with an improved fit helps the 27 find a return to form. Andrea: The Wave Rider 27 is a nice update on the 26, with a better fitting upper and less intrusive heel for midfoot strikers. While I did not particularly enjoy running in the 26 due to the low volume toe box and clunky heel, I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and ride of This could be a great daily trainer for those looking for a higher drop shoe that still has sufficient cushioning in the forefoot.

Jana: The Wave Rider is responsive, highly protective, and, I think, also an excellent choice for runners with knee issues due to its high and comfortable cushioning. In the Wave Rider 27, when it's dark out, the thing lighting up is actually the Mizuno logo! I am aware that Mizuno values tradition as one of its basic pillars, but it would be very interesting to see an aesthetic renovation in future versions. I would give a slight edge to the ON for its equal security and lighter feel on the foot overall. Keep Reading. Awards Award to the editorial staff's and testers' favourite models.
