This action figure is part of the Masters of the Universe genre within the Mattel Classics series. Quite a few 50 of these toys are in user collections so it does seem to be somewhat popular. Christmas time brings back my fondest childhood memories of receiving those dream playsets I eagerly awaited all year — the grand toys that only Santa could deliver, like the Micronauts Mega-City or the Star Wars Death Star Playset. This colossal toy, probably the largest I've owned, adorned with magnificent artwork, towers over my other figures, with even He-Man appearing pint-sized in its presence. I've admired the box so much that, despite the lack of a fireplace in my Florida home, I've even considered framing it. As a child, I wasn't able to delve into the Masters of the Universe realm, but the Classics line has since allowed me to indulge in that missed chapter. Castle Grayskull itself is breathtaking, from its rocky foundations to the walls and skull facade suggesting it belongs to someone like Skeletor rather than a noble warrior such as He-Man.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Not really. OK, technically I opened the box a few days ago and checked out the exterior yesterday, but Christmas Eve is all about peaking, right? Parts in bags, parts in cardboard, parts in other bags stuffed in cardboard. But first…. One is a decorative point for the top of the castle and the other is a carry handle, just like the original playset had. Why would I want to take them off again? That may be never, so for now these pieces are being set aside. Now, back to the ground floor…. Naturally, you have the inside of the jawbridge, which can be opened by sticking a sword in a slot and triggering the mechanism.

It would have been poetic. In the castle, there is an authentic feel as all cardboard inserts now serve as sculpted three-dimensional objects.
