My best friend bought this Marantz 2245 receiver in while serving in the US Navy. Traveling around the world with him during his tour of duty, marantz 2245, this classic system finally settled in California and served him well until the late 90s, when it gave way to a modern home-theater system. How could I resist?

When I listen to say a , , or I may not hear every last bit of detail but the music is presented in a real to life sound that makes me feel like I'm at the music venue.
I had similar issues with intermittent audio.
This is a classic solid state Marantz receiver. It was produced from to around and put out 45 watts per channel into 8 ohms. As you can see the Marantz has a Mid tone adjustment which is nice. It really looks great in the WC wood case but keep in mind that the wood case can inhibit the flow of air into the unit somewhat which can result in overheating. Still, they do look good in wood! The color of the tuning dial is usually off quite a bit from the original color because the vellum paper that is used yellows over time giving the blue more of a greenish color.

Maybe keep an eye out for a Pioneer SX But remember, none of us were even thinking about stuff like that back in the early 70s. This will be in a 20'x18' room that I don't really crank the sound in. For a look at a restoration check out at RetroVoltage. A simple test of the FM section with a dipole antenna shows the still capable of locking on to most of my favorite stations with healthy signal strength and low background noise. If you think that you'll NEVER need more power then that's fine, but chances are pretty good that you eventually will fall in love with a pair of speakers that require more.
