They reduce the wear on your engine during cold weather starts! They plug into a standard electrical outlet and can be put onto a timer, or a temperature triggered electrical outlet. This in effect causes your engine to reach operating temperature much faster and gives you heat inside the cabin much faster as well. On top of the benefit of heating up quicker, it also saves your engine a ton of wear and tear on internal moving parts! When an engine is warm it starts easier, when its cold it's very hard on your engine. Kat's also has other heating solutions to help with cold starting issues for vehicles. Another style of Kat's engine heater is a circulating coolant heater. This style is installed in a coolant line on your vehicle.
