The Metal Slug games are widely considered to have some of the most beautifully detailed pixel art anywhere, and this boss is quite possibly my favourite piece of pixel art ever.

Originally a hermit crab on Dr. Moureau's Island before it grew to a huge size. The Huge Hermit is one of results of the nuclear strike on Dr. Moureau's Island. True Form added in Version Although its DPS seems high on paper, it is greatly hindered by its very low range. It rarely if ever gets to Aliens despite having only one knockback, and when it does, it's unlikely to do much damage before it gets destroyed. Its long cooldown and high cost are also detrimental, as it can be difficult to replace when destroyed, and tends to be a waste of resources if you get the chance to send another. The chances of it seeing use are few and far between, and it's safe to say even other disposable attackers like Can Can Cat are able to outperform it easily.

However, if taken the other routes the Slug Mariner or the sunken ship , they will encounter and fight the crab with a Slugnoid Type-R with invert-controlled Vulcan cannons and fat Iron Lizards.
