Hk vp9 vs fn 509
A few months ago, I published a video and article stating why I switched from a Glock 19 Gen 5 to an FN Compact as my go-to handgun. After you put the right combination of grip inserts on it and shoot it you will be in love. It is a bit pricey but well worth every penny. Table of Contents. The HK arrived a few days later in excellent condition. The first thing I noticed was how similar it was to the FN. Both are considered compact handguns. They are almost identical in terms of size, weight, and features. See the comparison chart above. Depending on what magazine you insert, you can change the length of the grip. Since most of your printing when carrying comes from the grip sticking out over your waistband, this feature makes it more concealable. Both guns ship with different-capacity magazines that allow you to do this. Although both guns are very similar, there are some differences that really set them apart. Both companies have been in business for a long time and are renowned for making high-quality firearms.

The VP9 uses HK's ergonomic handgun grip design that includes three changeable backstraps and six side panels. Molded finger grooves in the front of the pistol's grip also instinctively position an operator's hand for optimal shooting. All controls are completely ambidextrous, slide releases are present on both sides of the frame and magazine release can be easily activated by left or right handed shooters. The VP9 uses the proven P30 steel magazine, with 15 or 10 round capacity. Shooter has a less than noticeable pre-travel pull until the trigger reaches the engagement point of the fire control parts prior to trigger break. VP9 ships with 2 magazines. Specifications: Overall Length: Built to handle military level engagements, the FN full size pistol is a rigorously tested sidearm with the power and performance to take you through any scenario. The double action FN fullsize pistol features a cold hammer forged stainless steel barrel, luminescent 3 dot sights, front and rear slide serrations, an under-mounted Picatinny rail for aftermarket accessories, an enhanced grip with interchangeable backstraps, a fully ambidextrous slide stop lever and magazine release, and plenty of ammo capacity with two 17 round magazines included.

This is going to vary from body type to body type but for myself the width of the gun is more important than the height when it comes to concealment. The weight on these guns unloaded is almost identical but when you load 7 extra rounds in the VP9 it becomes a lot heavier than the HK VP9SK but you get a lot more capacity. Concealing firearms with different types of clothing means for each situation you have a range of guns you can conceal. Removeable backstraps are quite common now but the HK VP9 is the only striker-fired gun to bring that feature to the side of the grip. If you have sweat on your hands you will probably wish you had more aggressive texturing on the gun. The sight picture is identical on the two sets of sights. Unfortunately, these sights are outdated considering the currently sights offered by companies like Ameriglo and Trijicon with high contrast front sights. If you go with the VP9 that is optics ready the iron sights in my opinion are better than the other option. Initially, you feel light takeup before you feel a wall that sits fairly far forward when compared to most other striker-fired triggers.

It's my last FN pistol so I'm kind of torn. Your never going to get arrested for having a handgun on you thats not on "the list". For starters the mass "compliance" list of handguns has nothing to do with legal or illegal. What's new New posts New resources New profile posts Latest activity. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, but we can provide the best information possible when making your decision. This is an opinion piece, but I always aim to eliminate bias.
Glock G45 with OC trigger, Dawson sights, trigger undercut, vickers slide stop, and talon grips. Weekly range trips. Although both guns are very similar, there are some differences that really set them apart. I think you like this though Review by Phillip S. Sign up. I think FN has the better rifle selection, while HK has some killer little submachine guns. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. I think it's great.
