Single or dual exhaust in my six? Thread Tools. Received 3 Likes on 3 Posts. I will be needing new exhaust on my truck in another year or so, I can't decide if I should install single or dual exhaust on it. I currently have EFI manifolds with homemade down pipes into a single in dual outlet muffler. I am trying to decide if I should run 2. Or install a Walker down pipe and run 2. I plan to use a 40 series Flowmaster muffler s so I know it will sound good. Which do you guys think would be best for making more low end torque, but still have decent mid-top end power. Automakers have developed and built countless engines over the years, but few have achieved what you might call legendary status. The Ford cubic-inch inline-six is undoubtedly one of them. Even with meticulous upkeep they lose compression, crack castings, and blow head gaskets. Two of them from thrown rods, of all things. No one I know has had a running six for almost ten years now. Every manufacturer makes engines that will go a million miles with just oil changes, but the chance of owning one is worse than the lottery. I have to say that the loudest advocates for the have probably never owned one, which is why they think so highly of it and spread the myth of this engine. Many engines will do this including most Ford engines from this era. And the only people who like a well-mannered broken engine are car dealers. A bold claim, indeed.
