Looking for somewhere different to take your kids during the school holidays? Originally opened by Bruce and Margaret Kubbere in as nursery in conjunction with a small wildlife park. Now owned by Elanor Investors Group they have created a real hands-on wildlife experience, educating visitors about Australian Native Flora and Fauna. Taking my 3 and a half year old to the park was an incredible experience, and only an hour from Mona Vale. Unlike most Zoo? We explored the park, seeing an abundance in Australian wildlife and we even got close enough to feed the kangaroos. There are a few other encounter options including the koala encounter, the reptile encounter and owl encounter, and definitely worth the extra investment. It was just the two of us with the staff and animals, we were able to pat and cuddle small animals, whilst the staff told us all about each of them. There was also a photographer present in the encounter captured the experience — now we are able to treasure this memory forever! With a caf? Even if you live further than Mona Vale the experience is worth it, my daughter had a fantastic time. The park is open every day except Christmas, so whether it is for the school holidays or a treat for your children, it is a great day out. Not only is it fun, it is educational as well, with animal feedings and explanations of conservation, I highly recommend making a trip to Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park your next family day out.
The place where you go to have your photo taken with the Koala is supervised at all times with a ranger. Posted January 13,
My passion for Australian wildlife started when I was a kid and my dad was flying back and forth to Australia for business. On each trip, he would return home with a new stuffed animal for me. After a while, I had a collection that included a koala, a kangaroo, an emu, a platypus, and an echidna. But, the stuffed animal that I really fell in love with was the tiny wombat that my dad got at the airport. Unsurprisingly, when I visited Sydney I wanted to see all the wildlife with my own eyes and the closest wildlife park to Sydney was Featherdale Wildlife Park. Upon arriving in Sydney, I wanted to find a place where I could interact with my favorite Australian fauna. Unfortunately, I was told that according to the laws of New South Wales the state where Sydney lies , activities such as hugging or even touching koalas and wombats are forbidden.
During my visit to Australia, I wanted to visit at least one zoo to see the local animals. After doing some research, I decided on the Featherdale Wildlife Park in the northwest suburbs of Sydney. My biggest question was how to visit the Featherdale Wildlife Park since it was around 45 kilometers from my hotel. I quickly learned that the Featherdale Wildlife Park could easily be reached by taking public transportation. I chose the Featherdale Wildlife Park because I wanted to feed the wallabies and interact with a Koala. The reviews that I read said that the Fetherdale Wildlife Park is much less crowded than the zoos in Sydney. My next set of questions included what hours is the Featherdale Wildlife Park open and how much does admission cost to visit the Featherdale Wildlife Park? An Internet search provided answers to both those questions. The Featherdale Wildlife Park is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm every day of the year except Christmas Day. In addition to the cost of admission, guests can book encounters with the animals.
