Broadwayworld message board

The simple thought of the theatre chat boards like BroadwayWorld or TheatreBoard is enough to send writers, directors, broadwayworld message board, performers and producers running screaming into the night. If producers had magic powers, they would make these boards vanish, but why, why do they have such a bad rap? I have been broadwayworld message board member of the Broadway World chat board for well over a decade, I have seen everything you can see from smartly written reviews, bitching and fighting, gossiping and paid shills more on that later.

Reply Chat Boards. Theatre Board is currently the only chat board I use to discuss theatre, and I'm pretty happy and satisfied with that as it's completely brilliant. This means that, obviously, I'm not a member of the BroadwayWorld chat board - and I know many on this board are. I'm not sure whether people have heard about this, but actress Patti Murin who was due to be in Broadway musical 'Nerds' that was pulled at the last minute as financing fell through has "taken on the chat boards" - specifically BroadwayWorld - campaigning against the negativity and snarky comments on there. Her blog post is a pretty interesting read, as are some of the comments left below it, and I'd be interested to know what people's thoughts on it are, as this board can get heated but it's still a lovely place to be and, as I said, I'm not a member of the BroadwayWorld chat board, but I sometimes feel that the same can't be said over there. I'm afraid I have no idea who Patti Murin is, but this blog post makes her sound terribly unprofessional. Cardinal Pirelli Member.

Warning: The following blog post is going to make me either incredibly popular in the theatre community or incredibly unpopular in the theatre community. And so on and so forth, until I found myself in a career where it legit revolves around what other people think. Am I good enough, am I pretty enough, am I friendly enough, etc. We get reviews written about us, which other people are allowed to, and overwhelmingly encouraged to, read when they are delivered to their inbox or front doorstep. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of people pay cash money to come sit in a dark room and watch us work. This is what we do and we love it. We are devastated, we are in varying states of shock, we are angry. But most importantly, we laughed as we sobbed and decided to perform our show one time for family, friends and the designers who worked their asses off for this show. Because as angry as we are, we choose love. The immediate outpouring of support and love from our fellow theatre nerds and friends and families and fans was outstanding, overwhelming, and breathtaking. A devastating moment in all of our lives was wrapped in waves and waves of positive energy and text messages and emails and pizza and a CRAP TON of booze.

That 'The Crucible' with its McCarthyite witch-hunts is in previews there appears not to have got its message through.

I like Patti Murin. I think I've written on this very site about at least one of her performances. And I am not the biggest fan of the theater message boards. So I by no means intend to put down one and exalt the other. In fact, I agree with the majority of what Ms.

They are all wonderful in their individual ways, and over the years I have been able to count many of their journalists and photographers as friends. Asking for decent moderation would be a positive thing for board that goes a bit over the top Makes we very happy that we're a free forum for actual discussion instead of pre-approved fan-girling. And to underline your point even further, I know some of the people you have called out solely based on there comments about you and NERDS to be rude and disrespectful in a great variety of topics. But they should be their own entity entirely, because much of the time, they are not in the spirit of creating, and cultivating art, and supporting people who are taking real risks to do what they love. These outlets allow theatre fans to connect from around the world, share casting gossip, backstage stories, news from workshops of upcoming shows and more, it can be a fun place for a theatre nerd like myself. Moderators shouldn't be left to clear up it's up to everyone to keep the place tidy. Popular in the Community. The posts which are speculative but passed as opinion often by people who haven't yet seen a show or before the show even hits first preview do concern me. I worked at a major theater website to once have message boards when they had message boards. Sign me up. What used to be a fun place to talk Broadway with a side of snark has turned into one of the ugliest pissing contests on the internet. Hi Rory! The thing about ethics are, you have to live by them even when you do not like what happens as a result.

BroadwayWorld is wishing a hearty-- in Oz-speak-- Congratulotions to the 'Munchkinland' touring cast of Wicked.

However, sometimes message boards do serve a purpose. And that's where report buttons come in, so something like that can be pointed out. Everyone is entitled to express their opinions as loudly as they want, just like I am right now. I like Patti Murin. I'm sure this is the case. Theatre Board is currently the only chat board I use to discuss theatre, and I'm pretty happy and satisfied with that as it's completely brilliant. Hi Patti. To attack those most hurt, most sensitive, and most vulnerable in this process is just mean-spirited. Over on the BroadwayWorld message boards, one member seemed to have everybody engaged when it came to their reviews of first previews and also often re reviewing after the show has opened. I would actually love to be able to read the boards again and interact with people on them!
