Astaroth was the God of Dreams, who spend almost her entire life asleep in the Aranara Village, where now sprout the Tree of Dreams at the location she stayed asleep, enveloping her like a cocoon. While she may not physically explore the world, her consciousness wandered far and wide, letting her see everything through her dreams. She dreamed far and wide, even beyond the world of Teyvat. The knowledge she obtained was terrible, she knew she shouldn't tell them to anyone, yet the use it would be for the people would be so great. At last, in the rare instance where she is awake, she would talk to the Scribe — an Aranara chosen by the village — about her dreams, explaining everything she saw before falling asleep once more, as the Scribe engraved her words on tablets of clay, burring them beside her sleeping altar.
