Zuko and mai
This will be my very first post on Tumblr. Just judging by the way she was introduced to the story and her first in-show interaction with Zuko, I am going to argue that the decision to make her the endgame lover of Zuko was something that was decided very late, zuko and mai.
For fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender , the relationships between the characters are central to the series. While the world-building and adventure are also fantastic, seeing how these different characters interact with one another is also compelling. While Mai might have been close friends with Ty Lee and friends with Azula , for the most part, she seemed like someone who liked to be alone. In many ways, Zuko and Mai are total opposites. While Zuko is very much fueled by his emotions and passions , Mai is emotionless and rather subdued in how she reacts to things. While in some ways this makes it seem like that might balance each other out, it also means they could get on each other's nerves often. As we see in the episode on the beach, Zuko gets fed up with her lack of feeling, and she gets tired of his dramatics.
Zuko and mai
Mai was the daughter and eldest child of Ukano , the former governor of New Ozai , and his wife, Michi. During the last year of the Hundred Year War , she became one of Princess Azula 's main allies, and therefore one of Team Avatar 's greatest foes, as well as Prince Zuko 's love interest once he returned to the Fire Nation. Mai was exceptionally proficient at throwing stilettos , a self-taught skill she developed out of boredom. Using small knives and spring-loaded stiletto holsters concealed in her robes, she was capable of besting numerous benders at once, despite not being a bender herself. She was recruited by Azula along with Ty Lee to capture the princess' brother and uncle , as well as the Avatar and his friends. Mai outwardly resembled an impassive and apathetic teenager. A victim of her father's political aspirations since early childhood, Mai confessed she got anything she wanted from her parents so long as she was quiet, well-mannered, and perfectly behaved. She did, however, show happiness when in the presence of Zuko, whom she loved deeply. The strength of her feelings toward Zuko led her to save him from Azula at the Boiling Rock. She confronted Azula, declaring that her love for Zuko outweighed her fear of retaliation. As a result of this betrayal, Azula imprisoned her, along with Ty Lee, who stopped Azula's attack by blocking her chi. They restarted their relationship with a kiss before Zuko's coronation as the new Fire Lord , [9] though Mai broke up with him a year later due to his unwillingness to confide in her, claiming he loved his secrets more than her.
After defending her initial reluctance to betray her father, she argued that she suspected his involvement in Azula's plot based on his suspicious behavior on the previous day.
Zuko and Mai knew each other since they were children. Mai developed a crush on Zuko and Azula and Ty Lee noticed this. Azula decided that it would be funny to create an awkward moment between them and convinced her mother to let Zuko play with them. Azula placed an apple on top of Mai's head and lit it on fire. Zuko immediately tackled her into the fountain in order to save her. Azula and Ty Lee laughed at them and remarked that they looked cute together. Mai was embarrassed while Zuko was simply annoyed that he got wet.
Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender love the series for the well-written characters, the exciting worldbuilding, and the compelling element bending system. But, what really drew fans in was the relationship between characters. While Katara and Aang might be the main couple to evolve from the show, Mai and Zuko are one that was actually together in the plot of the series itself. Fans were able to see this relationship develop and view some of the ups and downs of their dynamic. While some people ship Zuko and Mai with other people, they are the canon couple, and there are many reasons why they were great together. In many ways, they are one of the most relatable couples from the franchise, too. It wasn't as if they were together immediately and presented as if they were meant to be, the relationship developed more organically. While in some movies and television series couples seem to happen out of nowhere, this isn't the case with Zuko and Mai. They have known each other for years, but the dynamic changes as they get older and start to see each other in new lights. While Zuko was banished for years, they do have the same social circles of friends and are both important members of the Fire Nation.

This page is comprised of Zuko's relationships with other characters in the world of Avatar. A frequently troubled young man, Zuko acquired both friends and foes throughout his journeys. Azula was Zuko's younger sister by two years. Azula also enjoyed calling him by disliked nicknames, including "Zuzu" and "Dum-Dum", [6] and reminding him of his inferiority in their father's eyes. As evidenced by Zuko's dreams, Azula had a great deal of influence over him, arguably rivaling his uncle's. She also helped him sort through his anger and conflicted feelings of betraying Iroh, although she called him pathetic for letting these feelings get to him. This tentative sibling relationship did not withstand Zuko's decision to join Team Avatar to stop their father from winning the Hundred Year War, [14] as Azula showed no mercy for her brother during their next encounters, and neither did Zuko hesitate to battle her. With his greatly improved firebending, he could finally challenge Azula, and she was forced to take him much more seriously during their duel at the Boiling Rock.

He responded by saying that she has no passion for anything and that she is "a big blah". Neglecting to inform Mai about this is what ultimately drives them apart again. A victim of her father's political aspirations since early childhood, Mai confessed she got anything she wanted from her parents so long as she was quiet, well-mannered, and perfectly behaved. Soon after, Kei Lo entered the teashop. She remained cold toward him when he joined her, Ty Lee, and Azula around a campfire for a discussion. After Aang discovered that the actual Kemurikage had never returned to the mortal world, the group returned to the Caldera City. After defending her initial reluctance to betray her father, she argued that she suspected his involvement in Azula's plot based on his suspicious behavior on the previous day. Azula and Ty Lee laughed at them and remarked that they looked cute together. Fan Feed 1 Huskerdust 2 Kataang 3 Chaggie. Despite helping to prevent him from killing Zuko , Mai could not move herself to arrest her father. Desperate to get out of Omashu, Mai agreed to this immediately even though she had not been told what that mission was. While in some ways this makes it seem like that might balance each other out, it also means they could get on each other's nerves often. Angered that she was being kept out of the loop of everything, Mai broke up with Zuko, saying "You love your secrets more [than you love me]". Who are Mai's parents? Later, Mai's brother Tom-Tom was captured by the Kemurikage.
The daughter of a powerful government official, Mai has known and loved Zuko all her life.
She charged the rebels, and in the proccess encountered Team Avatar. Mai made repeated jabs at Zuko during the mission with Aang and Kei Lo, but when left alone, sparks flared between the former couple. Thus, she welcomed the distraction when a local insurgent group, the Omashu Resistance , unsuccessfully attempted to crush her and her family under a boulder. Ty Lee paralyzed her with a chi strike before she could escape and the trio proceeded to capture the waterbender. While they were waiting for an attack by the New Ozai Society, Mai mused how the official pathway was an extremely difficult target for a rebel assault, as it had been designed to be well defendable by Fire Lord Sozin. Mai dismissed the idea of auras and sarcastically apologized to Zuko for not being as "high-strung and crazy" as the others. This is Zuko after Jin holds his hand. Episode 7. Before the newly formed team left Omashu, however, Azula wanted to improve security. They share strong feelings for each other, but their relationship isn't without its challenges. However, she did show a marked interest in Zuko, turning away shyly and blushing when he walked by with his mother. She and the other girls pressured Zuko, asking at whom he was angry.
It is a pity, that now I can not express - it is very occupied. But I will be released - I will necessarily write that I think on this question.
