Nowcasting enhances short-term weather forecasting to produce location-specific predictions for the next 0 to 6 hours. It developed a nowcasting model in that uses real-time data from 70 radars across Australia to predict rain and small-scale storms. WillyWeather has a highly skilled team of developers and engineers, but this was its first project using machine learning ML. The first phase of development involved extensive consultation and testing to find the right technology fit. The initial approach trialed deep learning models, which yield a high level of accuracy but would have required a higher level of investment in terms of time and resources to deploy. However, WillyWeather wanted to keep project and maintenance costs low because it planned to make nowcasting results free for its users. The nowcasting models use AWS Lambda serverless code linked to real-time radar imagery data.

The app includes radar, satellite, detailed wind, rain, tide, swell and UV forecasts, as well as moon phases, and sunrise and sunset times. Going beyond the average weather service, we process and fine-tune forecast data to the specific coordinates of thousands of locations including all suburbs, towns, beaches, rivers, parks, lakes and islands. Includes every beach in Australia, and many river systems and inlets. Deeply integrated with tidal data. Our mapping features provides more control, and more detail than any other Australian weather source. We're particularly proud of our graphs, we pushed the boundaries to provide you with more context, and more detail for each weather type. Our goal was to present accurate and relevant weather information to you, as quickly, and easily as possible. I've purchased a lot of weather apps. Frankly, I don't know why, but I do enjoy looking at different interfaces. I've tried a bunch on my Apple watch. Some are very informative but don't have a well made interface for the watch. I just want to look at my wrist and see what's going to happen NOW and for the next few hours. Willy fits my needs perfectly. Thank you developers for writing such an excellent watch implementation. I've used it for a short time, but it's definitely worth the purchase.

When rain is detected, willy weather, AWS Lambda triggers the nowcasting model, which generates weather predictions every 2 minutes and then records the actual weather for comparison. Rapid infrastructure scaling during these times is critical.

Has everything from temp and uv index to swell and tide charts. Great work!!! I was in search of the perfect weather app I obsessively tried over 50 apps. This app nailed my requirements: Both the temp and forecast is on the first screen. It's readable. And, it takes one touch on a day to see more detail and meaningful text for that day.
