The trial version is functional for what is constant power mode in lightburn month and allows ALL the features of the software which will allow you to test it before purchase. I default to variable power and adjust as necessary. Up to now, about the only things I use constant power for is high contrast single vector lines on slate and coated metals. Possibly stubborn engineered woods or thick cuts that push a machine to its limits. With my Sculpfun S30 Pro 10w machine, I use Constant power for all cutting and select engraving projects for depth on woods. Air Assist is max volume. For all image type engravings and text loaded designs, I use variable power and reduced volume on the air assist.

At the start of engraving, the power of the laser is so strong that it almost burns out the material. Any tips or ideas? Sorry for my poor English. You can check by clicking the Devices button in Laser window and then clicking on your laser name once. It will show you the details at the bottom of the Device window. Thanks for the reply. Those can potentially cause burning scenarios. Else check the design itself… or rather the preview. Do you see the laser dot lingering in that space longer than other areas? I am attaching the picture of the settings and the original svg file. As well as two other pictures.

I am in my trial of this software and likely will buy it. Having issue though getting things to work properly. If I set constant power mode on for a layer it prints at that power. Machine settings are below. Can you check the value of S Value Max in your Device settings? It was the speed. I do a lot of 3d printing and the speed I had to drop this to compared to that just seemed crazy slow.
For all you newbies out there with a diode laser , I have made a step-by-step guide on creating a power scale to dial in your engraving burns. Unlike the tons of other videos out there who skip steps and explanations, this video will walk you through the entire process, start to finish. It shows a light when cutting but this has no effect on anything. I have had it burning stuff before i put it away for a holiday and have focused it. It doesnt matter what spped I go. This does not seem to be a speed issue whether i go slow or fast the result id the same. I do not know what to tell you - it does not appear to be a settings issue, other than the fact that you have your max speed set way too low, and trying to run faster than that speed will reduce power to compensate.

Totya Totya Tng July 20, , pm 5. Depending on your laser, its firmware settings and limits, and the design, it may or may not actually reach this speed. The second is a feature called variable power mode, or the M4 command. In this mode, GRBL adjusts the laser power as the machine speeds up and slows down, making for very consistent cutting and marking. Most of the threads I read implied that would fix this for cuts. Both machines, however, are Ortur, so for now, turning off Constant Power has resolved it for me. In all variations of the Cut Settings Editor, the most basic settings are displayed at the top of the window speed, power, output toggle, air assist, and mode. Thank you both for your help so far. Most GCode -based lasers are pre-configured to work with LightBurn, but if you have a less common machine like a Shapeoko, EleksMaker, X-Carve, or Acro system, you might need to make some simple changes to get the most from LightBurn. It is highly configurable, and this is both a blessing and a curse.
When I looked at the code to see if there was an indicator, it only stated: Starting stream Stream completed in [time]. When I had noticed it skipping on a very intricate job with a lot of lines, I changed the skipped lines to a different layer that was, subsequently, not Constant Power and then the original layer would skip in a different area. Perhaps Constant Power Mode is not necessary, but my understanding was that this feature was added to improve burn quality with regards to variable power and changing directions. I do a lot of 3d printing and the speed I had to drop this to compared to that just seemed crazy slow. I also just found and did a secondary PWM test, with the laser completely unplugged from 12v source, and only plugged into the USB on my computer, the PWM should read 0. Do you see the laser dot lingering in that space longer than other areas? Was pretty ugly, and one of my first cuts.
