The Crips is an alliance of street gangs that is based in westside crip coastal regions of Southern California. Founded in Los Angeles, California, westside crip, inmainly by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams, the Crips were initially a single alliance between two autonomous gangs; it is now a loosely-connected network of individual "sets", often engaged in open warfare with one another. Stanley Tookie Williams was an American gangster who moved to Los Angeles at a young age and immediately became immersed in the street life. Williams and a friend created the "Crips" gang and would eventually be arrested and convicted of murder associated with the gang's activity.
