The rest of this week will see temperatures rise as brisk winds become generally south-easterly for a while. There'll be just a few showers here and there but some more widespread rain pushing northwards at the weekend. Winds will back north-easterly to bring chillier conditions early next week with a few scattered showers. Midweek will have lighter winds and drier conditions and then it should become milder as winds veer south to south-easterly. After mid-March there is a lot of uncertainty but overall the southern UK should see above-average temperatures more often than the north, which will be more susceptible to occasional cold shots. Overall, the south could be wetter than the north as well. From Wednesday through to Friday there should a lot of dry weather across the UK with just a few scattered showers drifting across on increasingly brisk and blustery south-easterly winds.

This afternoon, the cloud will begin to break in the afternoon. Sunny spells will develop along with some variable cloud and isolated showers. Tonight will be cool and dry. Plenty of clear spells to start. During the early hours, areas of thicker low cloud will develop. Some patchy mist and fog will also be possible. Tomorrow, patchy mist and fog will lift in the early morning to reveal variable cloud and sunny spells. In the afternoon, a few scattered light showers will develop in places. Outlook for Friday to Sunday. Friday is expected to remain dry, with plenty of sunny spells and some patches of cloud moving in at times. Moderate easterly winds. After a dry start with some sunshine, Saturday will become cloudier through the afternoon, with rain drifting in into the evening. Staying breezy. Turning wet with spells of rain overnight into Sunday, these tending to ease through the day.
