Talk to both Reuven and his troll Bart to learn as much as you can about the break in. When the talking is done, Reuven gives you a potion to protect yourself from the deadly spores in the sewer. Make sure to take the potion, which lasts for six minutes. Follow the current and kill the Drowners that show up. You will come into a larger room with a gate on the opposite side.

If you want, you can talk to Bart, but he doesn't have much to say other than he heard what sounded like hissing rocks.
