The immobilizer has nothing to do with the ignition key lock. My guess is that the steering wheel is stuck off to the side and on the steering wheel lock. Since the key is in the ignition, turn it to ON and try to turn the steering wheel and see if it releases the key. Either that or I suspect the key cylinder just failed and is not letting the key out of the slot. Close the door and use the second key to lock the door! Basically you find hot wire for starter solenoid, cut it somewhere in the middle, install push button switch that uses relay so that only when the push button is depressed you can crank the engine with the key.
