How do you get a Hub 5? I have called the support team only to be told that the Hub 5 has the same specs as my current Hub 4, which it does not as I just want the 2. The person who answered the call was not much help at all and just said I could not have one after it took them over 20 minutes to find something out. I would supply my own Cable Modem but I don't think they would allow that and they don't offer a Cable Modem only option. Tricky really as technically the HUB 4 can provide full speed across all devices in router mode, so the scripts the 'helpdesk' follow would not take your request into consideration. Existing customers are getting Hub4's - as you've discovered. This policy is under continual review and should change when stocks of that Hub have built up sufficiently to issue them to all 1GB customers - but who knows when that will be.

When a customer cancels VM no longer ask them to return the hub3, so it looks to me like they will only be issuing hub4's and 5's in the near future when they run out of stock of hub3's. The only issue I had with my hub3 was that the wifi signal in the kitchen was poor, and virtually non-existant at times in the garden. I was on a M connection when I received a hub5 to test, It immediately improved the reach of my wifi, and also both my wifi and ethernet connection speeds. My speeds weren't that good as I had an old PC. I'm now on a Gig1 connection. With the hub5 on my old PC the speeds increased to around Mbps.
Signals from baby monitors, fish tanks and cordless phones can also interfere with WiFi signals.
As the title suggests, I thought it necessary to start a thread to discuss the x2 versions of the Superhub5 in the wild! I have had my Hub 5 since last August, to be fair I am impressed. Uptime is good, WiFi is solid, speeds are as specified. My previous Hub was in modem mode with my own router due to connection problems with various devices. Not had those problems with the Hub 5 so sticking with it. It has a fibre connector where the standard Hub 5 has a co-ax connector.
Find out here. The Virgin Media Hub 5 is a better router than the Hub 4. It supports Wi-Fi 6 and also includes a 2. That could come up in handy as Virgin continues to upgrade its speeds beyond a gigabit. You can find out more about the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 here. At the time of writing, the company appears to only be offering the new router to customers on its most expensive gigabit package, but you might be able to negotiate a router upgrade for free if you get through to the support team.
