Laying insulation and lifting poorly laid floorboards. Just uncovered something I'm unfamiliar with. There appears to be small pieces of white pieces of something in a pile under one of the boards. Not seen in another bit of loft. Please see photo.

What metal type material? That's thin and lightweight could I glue to my fire roof to reflect heat back into my room and extra protect my devices above Thanks. Metal won't be any good as it will asorbe the heat, so will warm tv even more,you need a heat resistent board,Glasroc Multiboard,Vermiculite Fire Resistant Board,Versapanel or similar. Vermiculite board is the usual one used for a heat shield with woodburning stoves.

Can anyone recommend an asbestos substitute heat resisting material in sheet form. It is to be used above a flueless gas fire, and the temperature should not be above approx 80 deg C.
