It is characterized by chronic anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and the presence of polycystic ovary in ultrasound examination. The pathogenesis of PCOS is not fully understood. One of the proposed mechanisms for hyperandrogenism is follicle maturation abnormalities, in which the growing follicle does not progress to a dominant follicle [ 4 ].
