Internationalize your education and enhance your intercultural competence skills! Every summer, faculty from UC San Diego teach classes in locations across the world, ucsd global seminar. Students enroll in 2 English-taught courses 8 UCSD quarter units and class sized are between students. The Netherlands is a leader in numerous dimensions of sustainable planning, development and design including innovations in multi-modal transportation, adaptive reuse, landscape architecture and urban design, alternative energy sources, green infrastructure, affordable housing, and strategies to combat sea-level rise. You will have the opportunity to visit and study examples from across the Netherlands from our home base in Amsterdam and excursions to the nearby cities of Utrecht and Rotterdam.

Posted by Victoria Morales Vargas September 24, Now that it has been some time since I have returned home from Europe, I've had ample time to reflect on my experience. From meeting new people, understanding myself, and exploring the world, I have gained so much from my time abroad. My memories and my thoughts are forever mine to keep and eternally mine to share. There was so much that I loved and appreciated that it's overwhelming to really breakdown everything that impacted me. Seeing animals always sparked joy in my heart. These little friends hold a part in my precious memories. I adored interacting with locals and seeing the beautiful craftsmanship that is a prominent characteristic of culture and tradition. We were met with lots of kindness and hospitality wherever we went whether it was in Austria, Italy, or Croatia. It was amazing being so far away from home and still feeling comforted by people with such big hearts.

Award letters for Global Seminar students are based off financial aid eligibility and are subject to change.

They are enriching experiences for both students and faculty, involving both in-class time and local excursions. Faculty are compensated for teaching the courses through a base salary and a benefit package including airfare, accommodation, per diem, health insurance and other incidentals. We particularly encourage proposals that address topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and those that have discipline and geographical diversification. He teaches a wide variety of classes in the Earth Sciences major, including introductory geology, mineralogy, volcanology and numerous freshman seminars. This Global Seminar will focus on Earth science and geology in the Swiss Alps—a truly amazing and spectacular region. Switzerland is host to incredible natural beauty, including towering mountain peaks, majestic glaciers, massive waterfalls, pristine mountain lakes, and more. Switzerland is also one of the most livable and modern countries in the world, consistently ranking highly among travelers and residents alike. Bern is centrally-located and a wonderful base from which to explore the region.

Students enroll in a package of two courses for a total of eight UCSD quarter units. Class sizes are between 15—28 students, so there are excellent opportunities for one-on-one interaction with some of the best faculty at UCSD. All courses are taught in English, except for the courses that are part of an intensive language program. Our mission is to increase access to study abroad opportunities for all students in good academic and disciplinary standing regardless of socio-economic status, race, gender, sexuality, or disability. Our programs are designed to provide a supportive environment where students can pursue an academically meaningful experience with highly rated faculty members focused on socially relevant topics for credit towards their degree.

Honestly, it was an exhausting experience. Many programs have waiting lists, and by failing to drop, you may be denying someone else the opportunity to study abroad. With a student limit, I was able to develop a successful mentoring relationship with almost every student.
