There have been breakthroughs and surprises, upsets and astonishments, as we make the turn into the second half of the Arizona Interscholastic Association boys high school basketball season. Let's look at some of the highlights, while praying that the coronavirus doesn't impact the season ahead:. There might be more parity this season than in the last 10 years, especially among the big conferences. Gilbert Perry's length and explosiveness could be tough to handle, but the Pumas still haven't won a state championship under coach Sam Duane Jr. This looks like his best team since he left Tempe Corona del Sol in , after leading the Aztecs to four straight state championships. The addition of 6-foot-8 freshman Koa Peat has given the Pumas the potential to win it all in 6A. His athleticism and rebounding takes pressure off of 7-foot senior Dylan Anderson to do everything in the post. And with Cody Williams able to handle the ball and play any position, and everybody's willingness to share the ball, this is a special team.
