Currently, in early access, Sunkenland is ideal for gamers who love exploration, with multiple islands to discover and explore. But before getting too far into the game, it is recommended that players consider constructing a base. Creating a home base is a fundamental part of the game and deciding where to build it is equally important, with many different factors to consider. Sunkenland allows players to build their base anywhere, and the largest area in the game, by far, is the water itself. Building a base on the water allows players a huge amount of freedom in terms of build size and shape, but this does come with some drawbacks. Collecting materials for a water base means a lot more legwork to and from islands and requires a lot of materials. This makes water bases a great project for later in the game, but for the initial base when starting, there are better options.
