In the previous two tip sections, we talked about the who "Character Development" and the What "Facilities and Outposts". Now, it's time for the "Where" i. When starting your campaign, you get playskool choose from one of five maps or just let the AI decide for you via random selection. Undead Labs' State of Decay 2 mostly sticks to the same formula as its predecessor, delivering an open-world survival game with a heavy focus on scavenging and resource management. While there are some quests to play through, the story takes a back seat to exploration, base building, and crafting a safe haven to stave off the wandering zombies. This makes State of Decay 2 maps very important. Players take charge of randomly generated characters with their own traits , strengths, and weaknesses; in fact, while the zombies are nothing to scoff at, fostering a sustainable community of survivors is often the game's greatest challenge. For the most part, the sequel plays like a slightly more polished version of 's State of Decay, but you are given the pick of multiple maps rather than just one.

CrazyGuy posted Ive only tried one so far and its valley. It doesnt seem to bad at all. I moved from the starting location to the police station. Now saving up for the baseball field for influence. This is the best and easiest map.
Thinking about using the Meagher Valley trick of driving through the farms to get around? Why does the home Base get attacked?
Helas I'm new to the game and don't know which map to play, so I would like to know from you what your favorite map is? My favourite maps are cascade hills and drucker county. They both got awesome large base with great option of customization cascade with the container fort and drucker with baricaded mall and loot hub locations. If you're new i would suggest you try providence ridge first as it was intended as go to map after tutorial. The best place is right where you start. Explore the immediate area around your base to loot everything.
Experienced players of State of Decay 2 are well adept at the playstyle they are going to execute on each map. Thus, some of them just let the game randomly select a map for additional excitement. Playing as a newbie or intermediate though is a different case. Yes, maps have a variety of terror to offer from the type of terrain to the kind of bases and landmarks they have. It is better to check first your readiness on playing on a certain map and consider checking this list for some guides and tips before diving into the game. Traversing through Providence Ridge is like going through the inside of an intestine.

There are a multitude of different bases available in the State of Decay 2. Each brings different elements and can either be a boon or a struggle for the survivors the player brings with them. Due to each being so unique, it can be a real challenge when trying to find the best base in this zombie survival game. It's imperative to have slots for beds, water, food, and high morale throughout. Luckily, despite there being many bases, some stand out far above the rest.

Barricaded Strip Mall Late-Game -- While probably the least flexible of the late game "huge bases", the Barricaded Strip Mall is still a strong late-game choice. So far Drucker seems pretty decent. Wolfwood 5 years ago 12 demonfire posted Also it has the best 'big base' of the 3 maps. Bar none, the Compound has the best position on the map, and easy access to every part of the map via convenient "shortcuts" through the farm fields with your car. Furthermore, you get a Workshop as a build-in, and considering you always want one, you can almost consider the Workshop as a sixth open slot. This is sad, as everything else about this base is great! Do Dropped items stay in that location till you return? Renewable energy and a booze distillery for a base, what's there not to love? Each area has its own positives and negatives, but which one is the best? Location-wise, once again we have a great map position for mid-game.

Rusty Rosie's is at a slightly better location that WBS, but by barely enough that it's almost not worth registering. I also didn't realize built-in Outside Beds could always be destroyed and replaced. Unfortunately, map placement is extremely important, and the Knight's Family Drive-In is utterly killed by its position on the map. It doesnt seem to bad at all. Good news here though - once you notice the land is mostly flat, and once you realize you can just drive right across the river without penalty as if it wasn't there, suddenly this map opens up tremendously! Clarington House Starter Base -- On the very western edge of the map, the Clarington House has the typical starter setup of all the pre-DLC maps: six built-in beds, and enough room to build your infirmary, garden and workshop. Because of this, and because the Trumbull Valley questlines come "later" in the SoD2 timeline than Heartland does, I would recommend avoiding this map until you've played the game somewhat and played through Heartland at least once. So you can move here, into the Farmland Compound. Drucker county is way too rocky and it's super easy to lose a car if you off road, and cascade hills has that river in the middle you have to drive around. The Drive-In Theatre is by far, the best built-in facility of the game, bar none. You can cut across country very easily.
