Crew are NPCs who permanently work on your ship. You can hire starbound crew members to 12 of them depending on your maximum crew capacity. Each crew member has a profession such as "Engineer", "Arctic Explorer", starbound crew members, "Soldier" that determines their equipment as well as the bonuses they grant.
