Nolan Buss, who grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania and also lived in Virginia, moved to Caton in to join his cousin in opening a hops for beer farm. Earlier this year, Buss seized on another business opportunity when he found out the Old Pioneer sports bar on South Main Street in Elmira was available. Buss purchased the business and renamed it Teall's Tavern, tapping into a local legend that Elmira was named for Elmira Teall, daughter of early settler Nathan Teall , who opened the original Teall's Tavern around on Sullivan Street. Buss has an interest in history and an even bigger passion for community service, and that's what he hopes to provide at Teall's, along with generous portions of Newtown nachos, sidewinder fries and other house specials. This is a place where friends can gather to share things that are going on in their lives," said Buss, a Virginia Army Guard veteran who served tours in Iraq and Qatar.
