A Springlock suit is a special animatronic that can be used as both an animatronic and suit. In order to turn the animatronic into "suit mode", you will require a special crank which deactivates the metal gears and spiked edged which are layered around the inside of the suit. Due to this, the suit's endoskeleton expands, allowing a person to wear the endoskeleton like a suit, and thus wear the outer costume as well. However if the wearer is exposed to any moisture, the endoskeleton will reactivate and the gears will begin to start spinning again, violently bludgeoning the wearer to death in an instant. Main Article: Springlock failure. A "Springlock failure" is one of the many incidents that has happened at Fazbear Entertainment restaurants over the years. These incidents occur when the locks that are holding the endoskeleton in the folded position break. This causes the endoskeleton and gears to spring into their usual position. Anyone caught inside the suit when this happens will be impaled and crushed by the parts. It is, however, possible to escape the suit before the injuries become fatal as shown by William in the novels. When the suit is in animatronic mode, it is limited by its programming, as can be seen when Springtrap was able to be led around by the sound of a child's voice. There are two known reasons Springlock failures can occur, one of these is when the springlocks interact with water and moisture, for this reason employees must not wear the suit in rooms with too much moisture in the air. This was the fate of William Afton who died inside the spring Bonnie suit when the springlocks failed.
Phone Guy mentions that there were "temporary" suits used after the decommissioning of the springlock ones, with a possible example being a cartoonish Spring Bonnie suit that is implied to have springlocks as the basis for Glitchtrap, springlocks.

If the suit activates whilst the wearer is inside of it, they will spin inwards and the wearer will be bludgeoned severely, causing them to be crushed and killed.
