I had to have a go myself as soon as I saw it.

I got through round 12 today. It is bigger than I expected it to be at this point. I have just finished round 37 which is popcorn separated by chain 2 spaces. The Mandala is complete. It measures about 10cm 4 in bigger than it should at this point -- I really crochet loosely.

Well I have finally got round to taking some pictures of the small single colour Sophie I made recently. This is intended for a baby due this month and I hope will be used as a pram blanket. I am really pleased with how it turned out. In one colour the texture of Sophie really speaks for itself. The pattern can be found on Look at what I made. I added an extra row of treble crochet UK or double crochet US just to square it off at the end. So my Sophie is complete. She has been complete for some time now actually. I just have been terribly slow in updating my blog. I have so enjoyed this pattern. So much so that on starting new projects I actually found it really tricky to be inspired. I have now decided after a very unsatisfying hexie blanket that I really want to do another, smaller Sophie for a friend who is expecting a baby in July. For a while when making my original blanket I thought that a version in one colour, parchment style craft special DK would be lovely for a pram blanket if I stopped at part 4 when it is a square. Oh how speedily my Sophie is growing. These last few parts have been very quick.

I had a bit of catching up to do, so I spent most of yesterday afternoon finishing Part 17 of my Stonewashed XL Sophie. See the blanket at my feet? I am ashamed to admit that it still needs a border. I ended up staying up until 2 am to complete most of part 18 of the large as well. And now I am wrecked, but happy :. A selfie of you and your Sophie. No feet Selphies. That is a challenge for another day.

I am so excited! I want to say all the things at once! Sophie is a large continuous square blanket with a lot of surface texture. The pattern was originally released in as a week mystery crochet-along. The brilliant thing about it being a mystery CAL was that, by the time people realised how complex the pattern was, they had already mastered all the skills they needed to complete it. The MAL will run from the 1st of July to the 31st. This is not enough time to make an entire Sophie although I know some people who have! It is, however, enough time for us to support you well into the journey, with special attention being paid to Parts 1 — 8. By Part 8, you will have completed the Roses my favourite part!!!
