Sindel is the queen of Edenia and the wife of King Jerrod who while both raised Kitana who is their daughter. Sindel ruled her peaceful world for awhile, however, soon Shao Kahn invaded Edenia and killed her husband and took Sindel as his queen.

When Sindel lost her realm her rule and position of power to Shao Kahn she didn't like the feeling of being powerless. Being an Edenian, Sindel possesses an array of mystical abilities. You can even cancel your hits into your Levitate, allowing you to perform an air move, cancel it, then continue your combo or floating way to play it safe. It comes full-circle when Sindel's seen in gameplay using Motaro her protector in the Kameo Mode to beat Shao bloody. After successfully regaining her sanity in the original timeline, Sindel pretended that she has retained her kindness. If it's the only way to protect her people, at least this time it'd feel organic to her new backstory. Sindel's backstory is retconned in Mortal Kombat 11 , revealing that she had been evil all along, with her supposed unwillingness to marry Shao Kahn being a lie that she told to keep the Edenians and especially Kitana loyal to her. As it turns out, a lot of things are different in Liu Kang's new universe, and among the many changes are new developments for the Queen of Outworld, Sindel.

Ultimately, it creates a more vulnerable, human Sindel; torn over how to use her mystical powers to ensure she doesn't become a tyrannical leader. She resented Jerrod for trading away their powers and believing themselves to be no better than commoners, while falling in love with Shao Kahn's willingness to assert his own dominance and take what was his. Mortal Kombat 1 's Sindel is certainly a far cry from her monstrous MK11 incarnation. Is there any positive MK discussion here?
