Simpsons road rage
The Simpsons: Road Rage is a video game based on the animated television series The Simpsons , and is part of a series of games based on the show. A Game Boy Advance version was released in Burns and several other characters from the show. The Simpsons: Road Rage is similar to Sega 's video game Crazy Taxi , in that the main objective is to drive picked up passengers to their destinations as quickly as possible. These similarities led to Sega suing developer Radical Entertainment and publishers Fox Interactive and Electronic Arts for patent infringement , though it was settled before going to court. The game received mixed reviews, being considered a bare-bones Crazy Taxi clone and criticised for its poor graphics. In the story of the game, Mr. Burns has bought all transit systems in Springfield and has begun to create radioactive buses that threaten the public health. Because of this, the citizens of Springfield must use their own vehicles as a means of safer public transport. Their goal is to earn money in an attempt to pay back Burns, get rid of his radioactive buses, and return the town back to normal. The main form of gameplay, titled "Road Rage", is an arcade -style taxi game where the player chooses a character from The Simpsons and earns money by picking up passengers and taking them to their destinations within the shortest possible time. The quicker the player is able to drop off passengers, they are rewarded with higher ratings and more time. Regardless of how the player performs, passenger ratings deteriorate and time will eventually run out, ending the session. After each session, if the player meets a certain threshold of earnings, they can choose to purchase one out of sixteen new Simpsons character drivers accompanied with their own vehicle, or one out of five new starting locations. While playing, players have to avoid certain hurdles, such as other vehicles, Burns' nuclear transit buses, or Burns himself, who occasionally rams his limo into the players vehicle.
The Passengers waiting to be picked up outside the Box Factory will want to go somewhere else. The game also features ten bonus missions that can be completed.
According to GameSpot, who gave the game a 6 out of 10 scores, "The only saving grace Road Rage has is that it's a Simpsons game. The case was settled privately between the companies before going to court. Burns has bought and converted the Springfield buses to nuclear-power, however, the now radioactive buses are wreaking havoc on the streets of Springfield. To save their city, the citizens of Springfield must raise a million dollars in order to buy the buses back, and they do so by banding together and taxiing people around the city to their destinations. Burns, after calling them out for their civil disobedience, nonetheless gives them back the transit system before ominously warning them that he'll be back before sending the player down a trap door. Also, in the GameCube and Xbox versions, it is revealed that Kang and Kodos are actually playing this game.
Ultimately, the only saving grace Road Rage has is that it's a Simpsons game. Many episodes of The Simpsons have focused on automobile mayhem of some sort, whether it's the introduction of the Canyonero or Homer's infamous "La Cucaracha" car, so it's only natural to expect that someone would develop a driving game based on The Simpsons. The game can best be described as Crazy Taxi in Springfield. Montgomery Burns has replaced the city's transit system with a series of radioactive busses that are causing havoc throughout Springfield. Initially, you assume the role of Bart, Lisa, Homer, Marge, and Grandpa as you ferry fares to and from various famous locales such as the Quick-E-Mart, Android's Dungeon, and Moe's Tavern within a certain amount of time. Eventually, though, you'll be able to unlock nearly all of the famous cast of characters in the animated series, including Professor Frink, Groundskeeper Willy, Otto, Clancy Wiggum, and Snake, each of whom as a unique car with somewhat unique handling characteristics. As in Crazy Taxi, the faster you get your fares to their destinations, the more money you earn. In a twist on Crazy Taxi's gameplay, The Simpsons Road Rage has two additional ways of earning money--some fares will give you bonuses for either driving safely or going on a rampage, and in these instances, you'll earn more money at the end of your trip if you avoid any traffic or smash into as many obstacles as possible, respectively. However, while the two games share the same premise, The Simpsons Road Rage controls nothing like the game it tries to emulate.
