Back in the past, she had some history with Ash when he helped her after she had been inadvertently attacked by a Poliwag, and she is interested in fashion. Serena found Pancham when it interrupted a performance tournament. Soon after, she encountered it where it stole Ash's hat. She soon learned that it has a desire to perform so she decided to capture it. It accepted after helping Serena rescue Fennekin from Team Rocket. It is often seen wearing sunglasses. Despite wanting to perform, it is also a skilled battler. Serena first saw Eevee when it was dancing in the flowers. Impressed with the dancing, she tried to befriend Eevee but Eevee was too shy and left. With this evolution, it gained a new confidence and powerful moves including Fairy Wind. Using its newly evolved powers, it managed to keep up in the battle with moves such as Flamethrower which did significant damage before the battle ended in a draw. It evolved following her journey through Kalos.

Although Ash remembered the camp, he didn't specifically remember meeting Serena, much to her disappointment.
