Scott McCall is the main protagonist of the Teen Wolf series.

He tries to maintain a normal life while hiding his secret and dealing with supernatural dangers that plague the town of Beacon Hills. Haynes left the series after the second season to work on Arrow. He returned in the second part of the sixth season as a guest star. Reed followed, leaving after the third season to pursue other projects. She returned to guest star in the second part of Season 5 and played one of Allison's ancestors. On April 11, , Arden Cho announced that she would not be returning for Season 6.

Before being bitten by then-Alpha Peter Hale in Wolf Moon , Scott was asthmatic, unpopular, and a "bench-warmer" on the high school lacrosse team. However, once he was bitten and successfully turned into a Beta Werewolf , Scott developed superhuman strength , speed , agility , healing , and senses , along with the ability to shape-shift his features into that of a wolf. Despite the aggression and violent urges that often comes with lycanthropy, Scott has always made it a point to embrace his humanity , and with the help of his best friend Stiles Stilinski and his girlfriend Allison Argent , he was able to begin to build his own pack , which eventually became known for being one of the most unique and powerful packs in the Teen Wolf universe. Scott's virtue and compassion, due in part to the support of his pack, allowed him to rise to the rare rank of True Alpha by his own force of will in the middle of the third season , due in part to the fact that his determination to remain good restrained him from the typical Werewolf urge to kill or maim. Scott had a romantic relationship with Kira Yukimura , a Thunder Kitsune which ended due to the deal she made with the Skinwalkers to leave Beacon Hills for Shiprock, New Mexico to train with them. In the second half of Season 6 , Scott developed a romantic relationship with his longtime friend and born Werecoyote Malia Tate. As of the end of the series, which is a flash-forward to two years in the future, Scott and Malia have remained each other's romantic partners, until they broke up. Fifteen years later, Scott reunited with the resurrected Allison in , when he, Lydia and Malia performed a ritual at the Nemeton under the light of a full moon, with the tree restoring Allison's physical body and succeeding in bringing her back to life.

Sean has Scott's arms pinned, so to save Liam from falling to his death, Scott catches Liam with his fangs, Biting him, transforming Liam into his first Beta. He wants to find Stiles but with someone they at least trust. In the beginning of Season 2, Lydia recovers, but suffers from a hallucination while in the shower and goes into a fugue state running through the woods naked for two days. Scott soon discovers his father is back in town. Using her new code as an anchor, Allison regains her confidence and skills, saving Malia Tate's life. Scott declares they shouldn't have to kill the people they're trying to save. In "Blitzkrieg", Liam learns of Garrett Douglas' past from Theo and is stunned to learn that when Garrett escaped from the tube in the Dread Doctors' lair, he has the power of an Alpha, a Lowenmensch and a Ghost Rider. Adrian is able to obtain it and release the demon, with its focus being defeating Scott in a divine move in this case, killing his pack and having Scott die in Allison's arms by her hands.

After Scott and Malia were badly injured in the fight, Kira showed up with her katana and began trying to hold them off, but she, too, was overpowered by the bear-like creatures. In "Ghosted", when Hayden's plan to trap a Ghost Rider is no longer an option, Liam devises a plan of his own. The fellow banshee tells her she has to wake up to save her friends who are in danger and promises to teach her how to use her voice as a weapon. In the Season 1 finale, Scott and Allison reaffirm their relationship after Allison finds out he's a werewolf and that his lies were to protect her. One person he saw more than most was Taylor Lautner. This particular bit of information might seem obvious since Scott is the titular Teen Wolf. Stiles takes his father's advice to forgive and make things up with Scott, accompanying him to reunite their estranged Pack. Scott breaks through the mountain ash barrier, and his desperation to save his loved ones combined with his indomitable will allows him to finally ascend to the rank of True Alpha. Mason transforms into the Beast and kills the Dread Doctors until Chris and Gerard appear and the former shoots the Beast, making it return to normal.
