I think the Axis is nifty, but it is the antithesis of the rifles I normally shoot. The Axis lacks the refined construction and high end parts of a custom rifle, but it allows new shooters to enter the sport for a reasonable amount of money. The rifle, as configured with a Harris bipod and Leupold Mark 4 for initial testing is shown above. As noted in my review , the factory trigger and stock needed help. Timney provided an excellent aftermarket trigger that reduced the rough 7 pound 6. Used in the final stages of the initial review , the trigger greatly improved the firing characteristics of the rifle. Fixing the stock and magazine system required a little more thought.

That was fixed easily enough. I recently received an Axis XP for Christmas and it has the same magazine problem. If you've been just jammin' 'er in, you may have broken off the tiny metal tab at the rear of the magazine, requiring a replacement. Please tell me there's an easy fix for this? On the little hook on the back of the magazine slide a some paper between it and the magazine body to protect the area not to be filed. I should have kept it.
