If so, use the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page and let us know and we'll get you squared away! Is anyone having problems with the Savage Hog Hunter in Legend feeding. I had issues with the rifle from day one. I notified Savage and they suggested a new magazine. As a former mechanic, I agreed. Go with the cheapest possible solution first. A new magazine arrived within three days, Same thing. At this point I tried putting only 3 rounds in the magazine, as it was always the fourth round that got sideways on me. It seemed to work. I, again, contacted Savage and explained my testing procedure. The rep asked if I would like to try a third magazine or send the rifle in, under warranty.

It looks like the ramp up to the chamber is a bit rough, and I was using hollowpoint bullets that were rather flat nosed, so I'm thinking these may be the cause, but I'm wondering if anyone has run into this kind of thing before with these guns, and if so, any solutions, I can't get through a whole magazine without having at least the last two not feed correctly, if not more.

I hope someday there will be someone who can explain the thought process of these lawmakers, but I doubt even the people who passed the laws have any inkling of the logic behind it. I just roll my eyes and move on. They are excited to finally have alternatives when they take to the field, and many of them are looking for the perfect rifle to take on their next deer hunt.

You may want to sacrifice one magazine by modifying the feed lips to see if you can get a reliable pitch up of the cartridge when pushed by the bolt. It is made from the same design though. They took care of it right away. I will probably not purchase another savage product. New mag feeds as it should. I loaded 4 rounds of Winchester grain FMJ, and proceeded to chamber rounds. Check that the magazine is properly and firmly seated into the receiver. I did some online research and learned a lot about about long action and short action and bolt baffles.
