We've long been fans of Saucony, and the Peregrine 13 is a step in the right direction for a solid trail shoe. While it's not our top pick, saucony peregrine 13 reviews does a few things really well. At Its sensitivity, comfort, and weight make this an excellent shoe when your efforts are focused and fast.

We found that this version went back to the basics, with a lot of what we loved about the original Saucony Peregrine, which may have been lost along the way in some subsequent iterations. Despite some durability concerns with some of the overlays on the upper, we have found it to be a good all-round shoe for a mix of terrain. We enjoy this shoe so much that it features in our Best Trail Running Shoes guide. Hey and welcome to Trail Trials, the video review section of iRunFar. The Peregrine 13 has been reconfigured to include more cushion throughout, ultimately creating a more comfortable underfoot ride. The addition of cushion added 1. It is becoming increasingly popular for trail shoes to be released sans rock plate. The Peregrine hasn't conformed yet and was released, yet again, with a super functional rock plate. This time around, the added underfoot cushion prevents you from feeling the plate as readily beneath your feet. These two elements come together for added underfoot protection, served up with a side of bouncy responsiveness. The toe bumper is significantly thicker and more protective than the thin rubber that encased the toe of the previous model of the Peregrine. This thicker design provides even more protection in the case of accidental rock kicks. The mesh upper is still breathable but does a good job of keeping particulate matter out. The upper is somewhat protective, though not the best we've seen. The moderately permeable upper mesh prevents us from recommending this shoe for sloppy terrain, even though we found that the traction holds up to demands. The additional cushion around the heel collar creates a tighter seal, so to speak, so we never had any issue with sand and debris sneaking in through those points.

Doctors of Running Strava Club Activities! We love the sensitivity, thanks to softer rubber this shoe is great for rocky surfaces. With great responsiveness without feeling harsh, this model is our favorite for long runs that are focused and fast, saucony peregrine 13 reviews.

More exposed outsole as compared to v Renee. First Impressions, Fit and Upper. After unboxing, I was even more surprised at what seemed to be quite big changes from the previous version as V12 was a major update for the Peregrine - dropping weight substantially and bringing it back to its roots after it had become a bit bloated over the years. The Peregrine 13 features a slightly reworked upper, a bit more foam that is softer underfoot, as well as a slightly revamped outsole design. My first impression upon putting them on was that they seemed noticeably more cushy underfoot. The upper retains the same footshape as V12 - and thankfully - the same great foothold and security. Lace tension is great, and you are able to get a solid, complete wrap around the foot.

Get a hold of this Saucony staple if you:. Those looking for a flat-out explosive trail running shoe should opt for the Hoka Torrent 3 or the Endorphin Edge. In our experience, these models excel in rugged terrains. The Peregrine 13 gets a well-deserved breathability rating of 4 out of 5, making it more breathable than the average trail shoe. We are happy to report that it can handle warm weather, but not for extended periods of time. In addition to being well-ventilated, the upper on this Saucony shoe is also super light and comfortable. After examining the upper under our microscope, we can also claim that this Peregrine iteration carries over the durability and toughness we've come to anticipate from this trail shoe series.. The big story in the Peregrine 13 is the added 1. The extra 1. That's good news!

Coming in at the lightest of all prior versions, the Peregrine 13 features a slight increase in stack height for more underfoot cushioning. Despite this, the Peregrine series continues to provide a slightly firmer ride that can handle pace changes and moderate mileage. The fit is slightly snug with a full-length, secure performance fit. The lower drop continues, so those with good ankle mobility and calf strength wanting a light and nimble trail shoe that provides excellent traction on a variety of surfaces should definitely check out the Saucony Peregrine 13 series. Andrea: The Saucony Peregrine line is Saucony's lightweight, low drop trail shoe that I have found capable of handling just about anything - easy runs, trail intervals, and racing. For me, the 13 is the best version yet thanks to the additional cushioning, which I notice most in the midfoot and forefoot, as well as a more squared-off toe box which I found more comfortable than previous versions. The Peregrine 13 will be a great option for neutral runners looking for a trail shoe that can do it all.

At The comfort easily transitions to easy running, but we found the shoe more predictable when running fast. But what truly puts the v13 above its predecessors is its thicker slab of midsole foam—making it even more capable for easy days, long slow miles, and the occasional race through punishing terrains. The upper is somewhat protective, though not the best we've seen. The advantage in my testing is that this allows mud to clear out a little bit better while still providing grip.
