A refined upper provides a little more room while still providing a secure and comfortable fit for those with narrow to normal-width feet. The Hollow Tech support frame continues to provide a moderate level medial support along with several other guidance based approaches.

Big mistake. With no real changes to the midsole and only slight tweaks in the upper, I was ready to strap this one on faster than Marty McFly with his hoverboard. How this shoe lost a couple of grams while having a bulkier upper, I have no idea, but good job Saucony.

Saucony's Guide 16 is a daily stability shoe — providing support for runners with mild to moderate overpronation. It's a true workhorse — designed for munching up daily miles — thanks to a thick stack of PWRRUN cushioning, plenty of structure and a plush comfy interior. Our deputy digital editor, Jenny Bozon, has been putting the Guide 16 through its paces over the last month — here's what she thought of the shoe. I've run around 60km in the shoe so far during a range of sessions, including long runs , recovery runs , interval sessions and a few tempo runs. The pronation control, provided by the Hollow Tech support frame positioned along the sidewalls at the heel and forefoot, is excellent. Essentially, this is a lighter and less intrusive version of a medial post, and although I could sometimes notice it preventing the excessive inward rolling of my feet — particularly during the latter part of my runs where my gait tends to worsen due to fatigue — I didn't find it invasive. Another element of the shoe which helps to provide stability is the heel counter — which is stiff and sturdy, so keeps the achilles firmly supported. You've got also got an elasticated strap around the back of the shoe to create a secure heel hold. As someone who is prone to achilles tendon niggles , I was big fan of the structure and support these elements provided, and had no achilles flare-ups during testing. I also love how light the Guide 16 is for a stability shoe, which made it really enjoyable to run in. At g, it's around 50g lighter than the Asics Gel-Kayano 29 another stability shoe and lighter than many neutral shoes, for example the Nike Pegasus 40 and Adidas Ultraboost Light both g. While I certainly wouldn't describe it as a fast shoe, because of how light it is I didn't find it cumbersome and sluggish to wear during long runs or even during more up-tempo sessions.
It's like having a trusted friend by your side, keeping you steady and secure throughout your run. Personal: A- A well-done stability shoe for those that want medial support. Go figure.
The running shoes have seen a remarkable evolution, transitioning from an era where neutral shoes held the spotlight to the current dominance of performance-focused ones. The shift, as much as it looks challenging, the primary problem here is to create a selling point. While neutral trainers have traditionally been known for their dependable performance, the likes of Saucony are boldly innovating and keeping it not just lively, but also competitive. But hey, what are neutral trainers? Neutral trainers are running shoes designed to provide a balanced level of cushioning and support for runners with neutral pronation , offering a versatile option for different types of runs. Two reasons. Firstly, our previous reviews of their recent lineups have been consistently positive.

Although other brands are making stability shoes with some pretty lovely rockers, Saucony is doing it better. It offers a nice break from high-cushioned, mega-posted shoes like the Asics Gel-Kayano and Hoka Arahi.

Article by Sam Winebaum and Allison Valliere. As with the Ride and, as far as we can tell, the entirety of the update here is to the upper. And that is OK as the Guide 15 and Ride 15 were both huge updates with more stack, new geometries and lighter weights than before. The Guide 15 had a very dense thin upper that while fine was not exactly the softest, most pliable or most plush on foot but it for sure was supportive.
