If I shift my grip to where I can reach it, my trigger finger is now in position to tilt the muzzle left when I press the trigger. Using to hands to draw and release the safety is only barely better than having to rack the slide. My goal is to be able to draw, release the safety, acquire the target, and fire, and to make it seem like a single, fluid motion. I carry a security 9 on occasions I really dont have problem with the manual safety but better to carry with safety off like a striker fire first pull is hard which acts as a safety. I know the security 9 is not a striker fire it actually has a hammer but it is quite safe with manual safety off.

I cocked the bolt again, flipped the safety up to "safe" and pressed trigger to ensure it would not fire. I now am unable to return the pistol's safety to the fire position. Before I start manhandling the pistol, I thought I'd turn to the board for help. Anyone have any ideas? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. It's quite a compact and lightweight hammer-fired pistol designed to be an inexpensive option for self-defense and concealed carry. This pistol with a single-action SA trigger relies on the use of the famous 9mm Luger cartridge. As the Security-9 is a mid-sized handgun, it means it's equally suitable for both open as well as concealed carry. Each machine has its own problems and the same is with guns. One of the most occurring problems with the Ruger Security 9 are related to its slide.

While dry firing a bit, I noticed that the safety clicked off easily -- as it should -- but was very stiff going back on. But OK, I did it. Cleaned it up using some Q-tips and a little cleaner Frog Lube , and reassembled it. At first, the safety problem was similar: easy off, but very stiff going back on again. I kept working it while wearing a leather glove on my left hand for a bit more leverage.

You can also find the recoil springs not being smooth as you load the mag, which can cause feeding issues. I actually began to think, "Maybe I just need to ask for a refund and consider a different handgun. If not, he won't probably because he can't sell a repaired pistol as "new" even though mine was never fired , only used, so he'll lose money.
I recently had the chance to test out the Ruger Security 9; while using it in various conditions, I did notice a few issues that could need some attention.
Ruger is a good company I think. Deals Forum. But for now, I'll just be patient and see how it turns out. The rest can be fixed by replacing the problematic parts, which is the thing the Ruger company is willing to do for you. In any case, it's unlikely that he's going to know by tomorrow when I'm there, so That little area where the safety is housed is pretty closed up, and of course, I'm not capable of going in there. He offered to mail me a label, but said the easiest route given my transportation issues and no FedX in this small town would be to just take it back to the dealer and let him send it back to Ruger. But OK, I did it. I LOVE my subcompact! I hope Ruger CS comes through for you Second, I have no car, and there is no FedX place in this little town.
