Once you know how to make a basic, flat, eight strand braid, you can move on to more complex ones, such as the round or square braid.

You will want to use the first method I show in photos and not the finger-loop method I show in the video as it is very hard to maintain the right amount of tension if you are working on something really long and trying to finger-loop braid. That will be your starting position and the threads will then cross and move in the same way shown in the tutorial.
