Redhead in Newcastle is a quite exposed reef break that has reasonably consistent surf. Summer offers the best conditions for surfing.

Located in Newcastle, New South Wales Redhead is a fun, sandy beachbreak as well as a good rock and sandy reef left hander on the northern end of the beach. The waves here can be difficult to surf do to the power on tap, but they break for up to meters providing great sections for turns and carves. This spot gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard, shortboard, or step up when it gets bigger. Redhead is suited for all levels of surfers depending on the swell.

The left hand reef break is better than the right.. When it's working here, it can get crowded.
